Police nab school owner for abduction and murder of pupil

Mallam Abdumalik Tanko, the proprietor of Noble Kids School in Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, has been arrested for masterminding the abduction and eventual death of a five Year old pupil, Miss Hanifa Abubakar, at his school. The incident was reported to have occurred at 8:30pm on 4th December, 2021. Miss Hanifa Abubakar who had gone to school was expected to return home after school, but didn’t make it back even an hour after her usual return time.

“Later in the evening of the same day, her parents received a call from an unknown number demanding the sum of six million naira for her return”, the police said in a statement according to their spokesperson, SP Abdumalik Kiyawa.

According to Suraj Suleiman, a relative of the family, Mallam Abdumalik Tanko was the first person to visit the family to condole with them. The case was brought to the notice of the Kano State Police Commissioner, Commander CP Samaila Shuaibu Dikko, who quickly swung into action which yielded instant result. The alleged abductor and killer, Mallam Abdumalik Tanko, a thirty year old male from Tudun Village, Nasarawa LGA and Mallam Hashim Isyaku, a thirty-seven year old male were apprehended. Both suspects admitted to the crime.

Mallam Hashim Isyaku while being questioned by reporters said that Mallam Abdumalik Tanko had approached him sometime in November, 2021 in the company of Alhajah Fatima Jibreel , a twenty-seven year old female from the same Nasarawa LGA, Kano State, to abduct Miss Hanifa Abubakar but they later gave up the idea and did not carry out the abduction.

Mallam Abdumalik Tanko confessed that he gave the victim rat poison to eat when he discovered that she had seen his face and might recognize him. He led a team of Operation Puff Adder and police medical team to a property that belonged to the school where the remains of the victim was interred.

As at the time of filling this report, the body had been exhumed and given to the family for burial based on the Muslim faith.

 The police spokesperson told reporters that the suspects will be charged to court when investigation is completed. He also stated that no stone would be left unturned to ensure that justice is served.
