An unidentified man was paraded before Ikeja High Court on the 21st of January, 2022, for alleged car hijack. The car hijack attempt took place on the 18th December, when the alleged criminal was said to have attacked one Mr. Micheal at Amadiya area, along Ijaya road around 11 am.

The car owner, Mr. Michele Ayeni, narrated his ordeal while speaking with Daily Planet. According to him, the incident happened around 11am when he was on a call in his car, and two hefty men entered his car without consent. One sat in the back seat and the second in the front seat, but before he could inquire what they wanted, he was hit.

He explained that before passersby could render any help, he was thrown out of the car and one of the hijackers sped off through Abule Egba road, heading towards Ilepo Market.

“ I tried fighting back, and this made the one sitting at the back seat scamper for safety. Thank God for an onlooker who saw what was happening in the car and shouted for help. But unfortunately, he left in my car after throwing me out,” He said.

A bike man, an eyewitness, who pleaded to remain anonymous while speaking with Daily Planet, explained that when he heard the scream of the people, he chased the car. He could move faster than the car to inform the public patrol at Ilepo to stop the car.

The police stopped the car and arrested the alleged criminal, and he was taken to Meiran Police Station and later transferred to Ikeja Police Station because despite all measures, he refused to disclose his identity.

Until the report of this news, the suspect has been arraigned before the Ikeja High Court but not yet convicted as the case has been adjourned to February 10.
