How hoodlums unleashed terror, caused mayhem in Idumota

Two persons met with untimely death, while many persons were injured on Friday when rival gangsters clashed in the Idumota area of Lagos State.

Daily planet learnt that a leadership tussle among factional members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) reportedly sparked the clash.

Many residents ran helter and skelter, while traders deserted their shops and ran for their lives.

This clash affected trading and other commercial activities on the Island.

The hoodlums were seen brandishing dangerous weapons, such as cutlasses, guns, fighting themselves.

Daily planet correspondent further gathered that the clash, which started on Thursday evening, was between hoodlums from Idumota, Balogun, Martins and Oluwole areas of Lagos Island.

It took the combined efforts of security operatives including the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and Task Force to restore normalcy in the area.
